4/11/2023 0 Comments Ember dover nhOur 3rd diner has the pan seared salmon served with onion & sugar snap peas quinoa. I greatly enjoyed the other duck entree served more traditionally, with grilled asparagus and farro. It was awsome! Not little pieces of duck thrown in with noodles, like a stir fry, but slices of hoisin glazed meat served with an appealing noodle dish. Food with veral duck dishes, one more surprising than the other! The ginger scallion noodle dish with hoisin duck seemed unasuming but was not what we expected. They had a daily specials menu as well as their house menu. Attentive staff, full bar serving some local craft brews as well as specialty cocktails. Not much of a view as it is situated on a side street. Tabletop seating or 2 opposing couches with a gas firepit in-between was our choice. It was a beautiful night so weather wasn't an issue. So, we decided to check it out and arrived eithout reservations at 7:30 pm, on a Saturday, prime time I know, but was seated immediatly in the outdoor porch area. My companions noted that it was relatively new and they had not been there. Walking around Dover, we came across Embers on our way to another restaurant. We were there for the restaurant and after this last visit are likely to not return. I can guarantee most of those attending that function will never return there because they were there for the reunion and not the restaurant. It seems to me the function upstairs took all the attention of the restaurant at the expense of the main dining room. We had to flag down the waitress for more drinks. How does any restaurant run out of main menu items at 6:30pm on a Saturday night. We were then told there were two main menu entrees that were not available and one special entree unavailable. There was one waitress for the whole downstairs and her attention to the tables was unacceptable. I would think with $25 drinks a restaurant would promote this and we would not have to ask for this menu. Ember boasts a large scotch menu and after two visits we had to ask for the scotch menu. Service after that went way way down hill. We had reservations and were sat right away. We noticed as we walked in there was a large function upstairs. The first visit was delightful with the exception that they were out of one of the specials.
